2007 AFL Premiership Team stamps history
To celebrate Geelong’s triumph in Saturday afternoon’s AFL Grand Final, Australia Post is releasing a 2007 AFL Premiership Team Souvenir Stamp Sheet of the victorious team.

From midday on Tuesday, 2 October, 2007, Geelong fans can purchase their very own piece of premiership history at selected Australia Post outlets around Australia.

Geelong last won the premiership 44 years ago in 1963.

“The AFL Grand Final is one of Australia’s great sporting events and this 2007 AFL Premiership Souvenir Stamp Sheet provides the public with access to a unique piece of football memorabilia,” said Noel Leahy, Australia Post, Group Manager Philatelic.

“It is truly a grand final winning performance by our dedicated postal staff across Australia to meet such tight deadlines, but one we can all feel very proud to have achieved.”

The team at Australia Post have worked around the clock this weekend since Tom Harley and Mark Thompson held aloft the premiership cup at  the MCG to ensure that every Geelong fan would be able to celebrate this history-making event with their team.

Each souvenir stamp sheet will feature celebratory post-match images on the backgrounds of the stamp sheets, along with the team name, team colours, team logo, final score, AFL logo and of course, title of “AFL Premiers 2007”.

The tabs of the stamps will feature an image of the 2007 AFL premiership cup accompanied by the words “Geelong 2007”. Each Souvenir Stamp Sheet will feature ten standard 50 cent stamps and retail for $15.95 at selected Australia Post outlets and via mail order on 1800 331 794. Overseas customers can purchase online at www.auspost.com.au/stamps.

The Souvenir Stamp Sheet program is a continuation of Australia Post’s ongoing support of the AFL and the 16 clubs.
