Australia Post has specific requirements for the preparation and lodgement of metered mail.

Return Address - Metered mail must bear the sender's address
- Postage Impressions - Metered postage impressions must be applied to the top right hand corner of the address side of the mail article.

Date - Printing the date in the impression is optional for postage meter customers. However, if the impression on an item does bear a date then that item may only be lodged on the date that appears in the impression.

Correct Addressing - Prepare metered mail in accordance with our correct addressing standards. This is mandatory for metered PreSort, Clean Mail and Print Post articles.

Bundling - Metered letters of the same size should be arranged so the address sides face the same way and be fastened in bundles using two rubber bands. Bulky items and parcels do not require bundling.

PreSort, Clean Mail, Charity Mail, Print Post, Acquistion Mail and Impact Mail - Customers accessing these business services must prepare and lodge their mail in accordance with the relevant conditions. PreSort, Clean Mail and Charity Mail lodgements must be accompanied by the Meter Lodgement Document (pdf, 436kb). Adobe Acrobat is required to read this file. Special Services: Registered Post, C.O.D and Express Courier, articles must be separated from other mail and lodged over the counter. Metered local delivery letters and parcels must be lodged at the counter of the Australia Post office from which they will be delivered. This service is subject to restrictions and conditions.

Street posting box lodgement - Up to 300 metered articles per day can be lodged in a street post box. It should be prepared as follows:
